i hooked it on the tester and got codes p1698 and p0500 any advise
Research shows that these are errors related to your computer and transmission not talking properly. In particular, your p1698 code is the tranny and computer not talking and your p0500 code is “no speedo signal” . The easiest/cheapest thing to replace/check is the cable running from your power control module to your transmission control module. Unfortunately I can’t find much on finding or tracing that wire…but I’m sure if you stop into your local auto-parts store you can find a manual, give it a quick read and memorize what you need from it! Check out this link, it has some description of the PCM and TCM locations.
